I’m a husband, father, endurance athlete, educator, and someone who believes that growth happens when we choose to lean into challenges instead of avoiding them.
For nearly two decades, I dedicated my career to education, serving students, families, and communities in a variety of roles ranging from classroom teacher to school leader. Throughout that journey, I learned that success is rarely about talent alone—it’s about consistency, resilience, accountability, and showing up when things get difficult.
In 2016, my life changed when I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. What could have been a defining setback became a turning point. That experience challenged me to rethink adversity, gratitude, leadership, and what it truly means to live with purpose. It also reinforced a belief that continues to guide my life today: we don't always get to choose our struggles, but we do get to choose how we respond to them.
Since then, I’ve pursued challenges that push me beyond my comfort zone, including marathons, ultramarathons, and endurance events that continually remind me that growth often lives on the other side of discomfort. Those experiences have shaped not only how I approach athletics, but also how I lead, serve, and connect with others.
Today, whether I’m speaking to students, educators, athletes, business professionals, or community leaders, my goal is simple: to encourage people to embrace challenges, build resilience, and recognize that their greatest growth often comes from the moments they least want to face.
At my core, I’m just a Midwest guy from Iowa who believes in hard work, strong relationships, personal responsibility, and making the most of each day we've been given.
Because in the end, success isn't built in one defining moment.
It's built one day at a time.
Win the Day
